Use Foam to Decorate Your Home for the Holidays

The end of each year is filled with holidays that bring people together and give them reasons to celebrate. From Halloween and Thanksgiving, to Christmas, Hanukah, and New Year’s, it’s hard to not get in the spirit of the season.

One way people like to show their holiday spirit is by decorating their homes, on the inside and out. We’ve all seen winter wonderlands featuring blinding light setups, and spend plenty of time plotting and carving annual jack-o’-lantern designs. Inside the home, we can do plenty to keep us in the spirit of the season as well, and one way is with decorative foam.

The simplest way to do this is to visit a local craft store or foam supplier and browse their selection of custom-cut shapes and designs. Die-cutting foam from soft foam blocks into fun decorations is easily done with open-cell foam, making detailed, precise designs in fun, bright colors. Additionally, foam cut-outs are soft, lightweight, and easily stored when it’s time to take them down. Creepy spiders can be hung from the ceiling on Halloween, or a foam Christmas tree can be stuck directly to a wall with hanging pins. Some decorations can even be three-dimensional, breaking up the monotony of traditional décor.

Holiday decorations also make for great hands-on projects. By trimming designs from sheets of colored closed-cell foam, your family can make layered pictures and shapes, decorate rooms, or even make fun party favors. So when it’s time to drag all the decorations out of the basement again, remember that foam works just as well and won’t break your back either!
