Safeguard Your Walls with Foam Doorstops

Our world is full of things of major importance that we don’t notice until we realize we don’t have them. It could be a power generator after a storm knocks out power for a few days. Perhaps it’s sunscreen and bug spray after setting out on a week-long camping trip. And while it isn’t as life-altering as the previous examples, even something as simple as a doorstopper in your home can prevent problems and headaches you wouldn’t have considered until it was too late.

Any person who has been startled by a slamming door, or gotten frustrated as they tried to patch a hole in the wall created by a doorknob can attest to the value of a doorstop. Some people may have considered them though, and found what was offered to be too expensive, or too difficult to add to their home. For people who want a low-cost, construction-free doorstop, foam protectors are up to the job as an effective and affordable doorstop.

These cushions are often bone-shaped sponges with a slit cut in the middle to slide over the edge or top of a door. These stay in place and will offer both impact and sound absorption from doors swinging into walls or their frames. They can be popped off in a second if a door needs to shut and replaced just as quickly.

Stoppers can be purchased ready-made or created as one of the easiest DIY projects you can do. Simply purchase a sponge in a size similar to what is used for washing cars and make two slices next to each other, about 2/3 of the way through in the middle of its long side. This thin strip, narrower than a door, gives room for the sponge to slide over any door while holding in place. It can quiet door slams and prevent wall damage.
