Benefits of a docking station
Prior to the onslaught of USB devices, storage on a PC or a laptop was fixed, and one had to open it up in order to increase storage space but not anymore. While floppies and CDs have been decent external storage devices, the market has exploded with external hard disks that are just as large as the ones in your computer.
And this is where the USB IDE adapter has come to great use, as it allows external storage devices that work in the IDE format only to use the USB port on your computer to perform the same functions that your internal hard disk performs.
Another interesting device is the docking station that has different types of ports such as serial, parallel, PS/2, networking, Ethernet and some more USB ports.
Not only does this make thing convenient (like the first device) but it also gives the user a wide range of ports to use, and this means a plethora of devices that can be used with your computer.
And finally, the USB video adapter is also another device that continues along the same lines of convenience for its users, where instead of installing an internal video card (that is if you can!) one can use a USB port and connect an external one instead.
So, whatever your need, one can find several USB devices that continue to come into the market in order to make the user’s life far easier than it has been.
